holy living IV
Exploring the rule of benedict for the 21st century

Listen, my child, to my words, and attend to them with the ear of your heart. (RB Prologue)

So begins the Rule of Benedict, a 1500 year old wisdom document that invites a world gone deaf to hear again the challenge of the Gospel of Jesus.

Is there anyone here who yearns for life and desires to see good days?
(Ps. 34)

Who among us would fail to answer "Yes" to such an invitation? Yet, what could a fifth century rule of life possibly have to say to the 21st century? The spirituality of the Rule of Benedict deals with ordinary human life, lived in harmony with others. Its concern focuses on the concerns of our times:  forgiveness,  justice, leadership and authority, peace, hospitality, balance, work, family values, economic values, and care of the earth.

Holy Living, Living Wholly is a four year study-series of the Rule, which explores the values in RB that speak to us today.

Participants can begin or continue this program at any point in the series. Those who have completed the four year cycle are invited to continue in the program to deepen their experience and understanding of the spirituality of the Rule of Benedict and to share its wisdom.
